Among my three children, there aren’t many meals or snacks I can come up with which all three like and enjoy. One likes bland flavors like baked chicken, while another likes savory tastes, and the third one is testing both sides here and there. As I don’t care to become a short-order cook to please all three of my children at all times, I try to come up with something which I feel is a happy medium among their preferred flavors and encourage them (read as repeating “eat your food” many many times) to try the meals before claiming not to like them.
My eldest has the pickiest behaviors when it comes to food and he goes as far as turning something down even if the fragrance doesn’t suit his taste buds. I know we’re supposed to keep offering the foods and are told that with constant exposure will come interest, so I’m and continuing to do so in hopes of getting there. Dr. Oz, the famous TV doctor says we need to try a particular food a whopping 20 times before our palettes start to form a liking towards the item. Children’s behavior specialists claim it’s all a stage as the behaviors go in a cycle suiting the kids’ developments and interests….we’ll see how it turns out with the three little mouths I stress over and which stress me back a lot of the time. How are your kiddies at the table?
